Access to Retail Package
What is the Access to Retail Package?
In August 2021, Amazon and other major retailers started to introduce more stringent compliance policies for sellers of food supplements.
To sell any type of food supplement in the UK or EU, Amazon now requires the brand owner or manufacturer to have either a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) or Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification from an accredited third party, among other requirements. Safe practice aside, retailers are increasingly asking for food safety certification.
Whilst food supplements are classed as a food, they have to meet a different set of requirements when compared to typical food products, set forth in The Food Supplements Regulations 2003 in the UK, Directive 2002/46/EC in the EU and additional country-specific regulations.
